L5 Operations/Departmental Management  Apprenticeship

Introduction

This 20-month apprenticeship programme is designed for an operations/departmental manager and is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisations strategy.

Operations or departmental managers play a crucial role in helping organisations improve their processes, make informed decisions, and achieve their business objectives. The specific duties and responsibilities of an operations manager can vary depending on the organisation and the industry, but generally are involved at a middle manager level ready for the next steps of becoming a senior leader.

Funding Band: £7,000 

If you are a levy paying employer, you can use your levy funds for this programme. If you are an SME and don’t pay into the government levy, then you can get funding of at least 95% for this programme.

 

Course Description

The Operations Management Apprenticeship programme is a comprehensive and hands-on training experience designed to prepare individuals for a successful career in leadership and management.

Accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities and job titles will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring.

The curriculum covers key areas such as:

  • Finance

Through a combination of classroom instruction, real-world projects, and ‘on the job’ mentorship, apprentices will gain practical experience in translating business objectives into actionable strategies in the workplace.

By the end of the programme, apprentices will be well-prepared to assist organisations in improving their operations, setting and implementing a business improvement project and demonstrating cost and business efficiencies . This apprenticeship is an ideal launching pad for a rewarding career in leadership and management- a great foundation for progression to a senior leader.

Duration / Delivery Model

17 – 20 Months

The Operations Management L5 apprenticeship programme is delivered as a flexible blended approach whereby individuals join a cohort training programme, followed with continuous ‘on the job‘ training sessions and receive dedicated 1-2-1 coaching sessions on a monthly basis. 

Alternatively, to suit employers S&A Academy cater for large levy organisations and SMEs to design and create bespoke content and delivery with a collective group of individuals from the same organisation. This apprenticeship is  suited for employees up-skilling whilst doing their existing roles or newly recruited operations managers.
